Understanding the pressures face during family law cases, Derek takes great pride in always offering a practical solution tailored to a client’s specific needs.
Having first joined Ip & Heathfield as a trainee solicitor in September 2011 after completing his Postgraduate Certificate in Law from the University of Hong Kong, Derek completed his extensive training with the firm in a wide range of family law matters and qualified as a Solicitor of the HKSAR in November 2013.
Derek’s advises on all areas of family law including divorce and separation, ancillary relief matters, child custody, access to children, settlements and nuptial agreements. Primarily focused on high net wealth individuals, Derek’s broad clientele consists of individuals from various backgrounds and is familiar in dealing with assets located in different jurisdictions and applications under the Hague Convention.
Very much dedicated to the development of Family Law in Hong Kong, Derek is an Executive Committee member of the Hong Kong Family Law Association and a lecturer for the Matrimonial Practice and Procedure module with the University of Hong Kong.
